Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Morphide.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
MORPHIDE: Morphide is a modern metal band from Latvia that was formed in June 2019 by husband and wife duo – composer Chris and vocalist and lyricist Eissa, – and already in a couple of months headed on their first European tour covering Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Czech Republic. During their short career Morphide has been working together with such well-known producers as Forrester Savell (Animals as Leaders, Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool) and Acle Kahney (Tesseract). Vocalist Eissa had multiple collaborations, including a collaboration with Lena Scissorhands (Infected Rain). In 2020 our music video for Queen of Blame won 1st place in Best Music Video Awards 2020 category by FemMetal – Goddesses Of Metal.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
MORPHIDE: We are huge fans of Northlane and their endless creativity with their sound. We also love older Spiritbox songs for their horrifying atmosphere, as well as Karnivool, who basically started our band by giving us such a strong inspiration that we simply could not resist.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
MORPHIDE: We have recently released our debut album “Anhedonia” that consists of nine songs. It has been admitted by many of our listeners that this album holds a big variety of influences and soundings and is very diverse. There are many different songs to choose from, from aggressive bangers with screams and growls to atmospheric and melodic ballads.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
MORPHIDE: That we will give it all. Live shows are a great way to share emotions, and we use this opportunity to its fullest. We perform every live show as if it was the last one. We are also working a lot on our consistency to make sure that every single show has been performed at its best.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
MORPHIDE: We want to see our band constantly changing and evolving. We hope to release lots of new music and we plan to tour a lot. Hopefully we will be able to meet our fans very soon.
