Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Luna Kiss

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Luna Kiss.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

LUNA KISS: Luna Kiss are a four-piece rock outfit from Coventry City, UK. The lineup consists of Wil Russell – Lead singer/front man and ½ guitarists, Chris Butler – Guitarist, Tommy Ogilvie – Bass player, James Pedley – Drums.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

LUNA KISS: We’re influenced heavily by any band that really sticks to their guns and follows their vision of what their creative identity is. Like many we grew up listening to Pink Floyd, but as 90’s kids, anything from Slipknot and Marilyn Manson to Green Day, and Muse were playing on the CD player. I guess if you were to align our sound to other bands, we have been likened to Queens Of The Stone Age, Muse, Billy Talent, and Biffy Clyro.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

LUNA KISS: So, in 2022 we’re releasing 5 new tracks. “Operate” and “Lust for Blood” came out recently, but our latest track “All On Me” dropped on the 27th of May. In many ways this is both our softest and heaviest of the five. Whilst the start is very ambient and dynamic, the main riff, and breakdown are really balls to the wall!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

LUNA KISS: We spent many years taking ourselves ‘seriously’ on stage, in our promo shots, and in interviews. The problem is, whilst Luna Kiss write about deep, serious, and painful things like betrayal and heart break… we’re actually all a stupid bunch of lads. So, at our live shows expect to see some high energy, gritty tunes, with a bunch of guys who just want to put every ounce of blood and sweat into what they do, enjoy themselves, and entertain their audience. During lockdown 2019, Chris (Guitarist) got heavily into animation and graphics, we have now taken this to our live show. We have two stacks of screens with a bunch of really fantastic animations that run alongside our music.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

LUNA KISS: Luna Kiss has always been about creating music we love, exploring the world, meeting like minded music lovers, and creating a *ugly word alert* business that is sustainable to survive whilst doing all the above. So, in 5 years we want to be touring our nuts off, whilst continuing to release new music, meeting our fans, and just getting the most out of this thing we call life. You get one crack at it right!
