Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Stinkbrute.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
STINKBRUTE: Stinkbrute is a project that started at the end of 2020, composed solely by me, Bernardo Rebelo, the drummer for the band Crimson Bridge, my Experimental Black Metal project Shrouded Serenity and my featuring in the UK Grindcore band Midrift Guillotine as one of the vocalists. Since the early demos, the premise of the project was to do heavy, grindy and disgusting music, this led to being categorised as a mix between Death Metal and Grindcore.
Throughout 2021 the project remained unannounced as the first album was being composed and recorded. In 2022, Stinkbrute joined the roster of the newly founded label Slaughter Industry Records, the label was created with my metal projects in mind and general content relating to metal.
As the project gets announced, the first single, along with its music video, was released, “Cow Molesters”, the video is composed of graphic depictions of the dairy industry taken from documentaries like Dominion. Musically this single sets the tone for the announced debut album, with elements from Slamming Brutal Death Metal and New-School Grindcore with screeching and growling vocals. Other singles from the album were released around this time, such as, “Into The Acid They Went”, “Grinders Dream” and “Pigs Wear Ties, Humans Wear Murder”.
Stinkbrute’s Debut album “The Gruesome Exchange Of Bodily Fluids That Turned Into A Bile Duct Titan” was premiered on SLAM WORLDWIDE and all major streaming services on the 14th of May 2022.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
STINKBRUTE: My influences in general and influences for Stinkbrute are very varied. For example, for Stinkbrute my influences are bands like Napalm Death, Wormrot and Analepsy but for me personally I’m really into Daughters, Converge, Return to Forever and Meshuggah, but I do like pretty much every metal subgenre and even stuff like Hip Hop and Jazz.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
STINKBRUTE: I would be delighted to share with you my debut Full-Length album by Stinkbrute. People should check it out because I believe it is something different than what you would normally find within this genre. I have some easter eggs on there, some animal rights activism and overall fun with blast beats and breakdowns which a lot of people love!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
STINKBRUTE: I haven’t played Stinkbrute shows, but when I do, people can expect a lot of craziness and a performative deliverance I hope to be proud of.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in 5 years?
STINKBRUTE: In 5 years it would be cool to have a few more albums released, more Music Videos and hopefully concerts, but I am curious to where I am going to go with the style of the project. I will still be making heavy music but maybe not in a very Death Metal type of box. Lately I’ve been leaning towards Grindcore and doing some unexpected experiences with bass, Primus style, so we will see how it goes.
