Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With We’re Wolves

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with We’re Wolves vocalist AJ Diaferio.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

DIAFERIO: We’re just a collection of weirdos who love horror movies, violent video games, angry music and hair metal, avid makeup enthusiasts, and wanna-be comedians who only make each other laugh. I wish I could say we’re all demonic entities here to devour your existence, but that would only be half true.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

DIAFERIO: That’s a tough one to pinpoint cause we all have such diverse tastes. The ones we most agree on that play a role in our sound would be Slipknot, Papa Roach, Avenged Sevenfold, Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills, Mötley Crüe, Falling In Reverse, Escape The Fate, Bullet For My Valentine, Metallica, Ozzy Osborne, Rob Zombie, Beartooth, Machine Head, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Story Of The Year, Every Time I Die, and Bring Me The Horizon.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

DIAFERIO: We’re here to promote our latest cover of Sum 41’s “Still Waiting.” Sum 41 (to us) was one of the heaviest bands in pop punk when we were kids. We Always loved the way they worked in street punk and heavy metal into their sound. They were super ahead of their time, and stood out amongst the mall punk bands. This song always had a special place in our hearts, and we’ve been dying to cover this one. With the current climate the world is in, it just felt right to breath some aggressive air into this pop punk classic. I hope you all love this one as much as we loved making it.

Also check out our latest album “Evil Things,” a diverse collection of music based on Donte’s divine comedy “Inferno.” Lots of Easter eggs on this deep dive into hell.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

DIAFERIO: To have a really fun time even if we’re having technical difficulties. We thrive when we play live and try to scale back as much as possible to remain a real true American Rock band.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in 5 years?

DIAFERIO: On yachts, playing with our own action figures. (yachting at night of course cause we all collectively hate the sun). Honestly, we will just be happy if we’re making a good living doing what we love. That’s all any band at our level can hope for, anything else is a plus.
