Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Jeff Carlson Band

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Jeff Carlson of the Jeff Carlson Band.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

CARLSON: I started playing with Cory Kay my bass player since 1997 off and on. I got signed to Potomac records in 2017 when I used to live in Tucson, so I moved to Las Vegas in 2018 and put together what eventually turned into this band. We brought Agent K-(Kory Brown) in the band in June of 2021 and Nathaniel our drummer in at the end of November of 2021.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

CARLSON: We are influenced by a lot of the arena rock bands, ie: Def Leppard, KISS, Journey, Billy Squier, (early Bon Jovi), along with newer acts, such as Shinedown, Sixx:A.M., Pretty Maids, Daughtry.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

CARLSON: Our latest release is “Over My Shoulder” out on RFL Records. It’s a song about never giving up and looking for the positive and not any negative on your dreams. We did the video for it at the Whisky A Go Go when we opened for John Corabi last December. It was Nathaniel’s first show with us!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

CARLSON: We put on a high energy, in your face fun show. We believe that it’s all about connection with the audience. We give 110% to the audience.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in 5 years?

CARLSON: Hopefully, we’ll be on our way to doing arenas. We want to be on bigger tours and eventually headlining theaters as well as arenas!
