AFI’s Davey Havok Blasts Animal Experiments In New PETA Ad For “World Rat Day”

AFI frontman Davey Havok and a rat named Wee Man have teamed up for a new PETA ad that was released for “World Rat Day” (April 4). The video was created to speak out against the “forced swim test,” which is conducted by dropping small animals in water and watching them struggle to swim. Havok had the following to say about the “behavioral despair test,” which pharmaceutical companies use to screen antidepressant drugs:

“Is that depression that you’re measuring? No. It’s fear. It’s trauma. It’s fight or flight. … Nothing is gained from that except their suffering. And no animals deserve that. No animals deserve to be treated like that.”
