Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with King Fabbs.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
KING FABBS: My name is King Fabbs and I’m a solo Pop Punk artist from Calgary, Alberta, Canada! I released my first EP on July 2nd, 2021. It’s the first music I have ever released and it’s the complete start of this journey for me. I’m incredibly excited to see where it takes me! Music is my passion, it’s the thing that fuels me. I was in a band when I was in high school and yes we were awful haha, but it was so much fun and I always looked forward to it! So of course it never lasted but it was something that I wanted to continue doing, so I’ve spent a lot of time looking to be in a band and I eventually realized that pursuing a solo career would be a better route for me. I have the ability to write all my music myself and there’s no commitment issues with being in a band with myself haha. Releasing my own music was a huge goal for me personally and again I am really excited to see where I can take this!
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
KING FABBS: I’m in love with a lot of music. Rock, Pop punk, and metal music is what I mainly listen too and where I get a ton of inspiration from. But I listen to music from a lot of different genres as well. My favorite’s are All Time Low, Slipknot, Green Day, State Champs, Paramore, Linkin Park, Mariana’s Trench, Foo Fighters, Alessia Cara, Hunter Brothers, The Story So Far, Stand Atlantic, Hot Milk, Twenty One Pilots, and many more!
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
KING FABBS: My latest release is my EP called “Your Safest Place”. As I mentioned in the first question this is my first ever release for me! If you like Pop Punk music then “Your Safest Place” is something I’m absolutely sure you’re going to love. I think my music gives a bit of a throwback vibe to 2000’s Pop Punk with the modern day Pop Punk feel mixed in. I’ve always loved this music and it feels so good to play. I also love that I can represent people of color within this genre. I used to get picked on for liking this kind of music because I’m black. For anyone out there that feels like they can’t be themselves because of the way they look or they have a “different” personality, “Your Safest Place” is for you. It represents those who have ever felt like they don’t fit in anywhere or if you’ve ever felt hopeless and completely lost. “Your Safest Place” can give you some uplifting when you need it. That’s why reader’s should check it out and follow me!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
KING FABBS: Expect me to dance, give you compliments, do some fun covers, have fun (duh!), give away free merch, and probably fall down or fall off the stage, probably both.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
KING FABBS: I certainly hope to be heading out onto a huge tour through a few continents or around the world. I hope to have a few albums out and I hope to be inspiring a lot of people out there!
