Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with The Rockit King vocalist Jes Beveridge.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
BEVERIDGE: The Rockit King is a straight-up, four-on-the-floor, Michigan Rock ‘N’ Roll band. Everyone sings and plays their asses off. Plenty of guitar. And we make records on tape, no computers. The songs are personal and melodic, and the live show is vicious.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
BEVERIDGE: Today or 20 years ago when TRK was conceived? 20 years ago it was Thin Lizzy & Boston.
Today it would probably be Megadeth and Blackberry Smoke. Cheap Trick throughout, I suppose.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
BEVERIDGE: We released “Fourth Turning,” our fourth studio album in May. I hear it as our best and most concise album to date. We worked hard at keeping the writing and the arrangements as simple and as clean as possible. It ROCKS and we want everyone to hear it.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
BEVERIDGE: A great f’ing time. TRK has long been an honest-to-goodness machine of a Rock band. West Michigan at its finest.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
BEVERIDGE: Releasing great music, playing great shows. We’ll never stop as long as we’re alive & kickin’.
