Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Ohmwork bassist Helge Nyrud.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
NYRUD: Ohmwork is classic rock merged with metal and a trace of prog.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
NYRUD: Mostly stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s. We incorporate things from those periods in or music. Everything from Black Sabbath to Avenged Sevenfold. The things that are interesting to listen to. Everything from straight-forward to complex.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
NYRUD: Our latest release is ‘Hill of Tara’. If they like old school melodic metal, they should check it out. It got all the chops, acoustics, fast, slow, epic ending and so on… It is our ‘Stargazer’ if you will. Hope they enjoy it.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
NYRUD: Just being a three-piece band, we are very energetic on stage. A lot of noise. People seems to be baffled by that. We go right in your throat. Te-hee!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
NYRUD: Hopefully out on the road again doing gigs and making records. So, if this pandemic can just fuck right off, you guys will see us out there one of these days.
