Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Darkest Horizon

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Darkest Horizon.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

DARKEST HORIZON: We are Darkest Horizon, an epic melodic death metal band from Frankfurt, Germany. We combine soundtrack and orchestral elements with the punch of a metal band and just released our new single “Conquer and Command”. You can check it out on our online presences and get your very own impression of what we do.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

DARKEST HORIZON: Oh, there are a lot of names on that list… To mention some of the most important there are Wintersun, Rammstein, Amon Amarth, Anaal Nathrakh, Hans Zimmer, Two Steps From Hell and further more. To be honest we do not have any blindfolders and try to pick up as many influences as we can to avoid repeating the same patterns over and over again.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

DARKEST HORIZON: Our latest release is “Conquer and Command” and you should definitely check it out for it is our second single within the current lineup. That means we tried new ways and techniques and we will continue to do so with every new single. So there is always something new to discover with each release and we try to widen our range of possibilities.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

DARKEST HORIZON: A bombastic, professional show, rehearsed and planned over and over again. A theatrical spectacle for your eyes and years. Yes, we tend to be dramatic and you will witness that for yourself on our shows.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

DARKEST HORIZON: Currently hopefully still releasing music and playing shows and festivals. These days it is so hard to say what could (or even will) happen, but we will stick with what we do, write songs and keep waiting for the moment we can enter the stage again.
