Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Heedless Elegance

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Samuel Konter of Heedless Elegance.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

KONTER: The idea of creating a band came to our minds around 2015 I think, we were in a rock/metal festival in Hungary. Zsolt and I were totally sober and we said to ourselves “lets try it one more time, but this time do it for real“. We had projects where we were playing together with Zsolt, but something was missing from them, so we decided to follow a path where we’ll be very conscious about what we are going to do. Of course we continuously bumped into problems and mistakes, but in a different level. Since the official start of the band which was in 2018, we had quite a few band members on each instrument, cause there was always something that came up to the surface. Those things were in a scale from ‘problems with the attitude’ to ‘the person literally went insane’! But eventually in 2020 the final lineup of the band was found and now I can proudly say that I’m in a band with amazing musicians and friends: Zsolt Forgó, Mátyás Erős, Dani Varga and Albert Csobán. Since than we got into the top 25 “Best Emerging Bands of Hungary” as the only metal music group by winning a showcase talent show in Herend and a major governmental showcase competition.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

KONTER: These days mostly movies and video games are my main influential resources, the details can make me think for hours sometimes. My musical influences are a bit diverse, because mainly they are not coming from metal, usually they are coming from classical music or pop or some kind of electronic music. I really love Ennio Morricone, Twenty One Pilots, and D’n’B, GOA music.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

KONTER: Our second LP called “LIBRA” just came out on the 31st of January and we are really proud of this release, we worked so much on it and we gave our souls and hearts to make it as good as possible. As far as we are able to look back from now to the past two years we truly think that it has become a colorful, yet coherent album overall. It was a challenging task for us to create such an LP, while being honest and fulfilling our expectations to ourselves. “Libra” is a concept album – divided into two parts with eight songs in total – about a fictional character and its inner journey from a murder driven by a long awaited revenge to the dissolving death of himself.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

KONTER: Our vision is to make our concerts bigger, smellier, more professional and more entertaining in any aspects as we grow as a band. We practice as much as we can to make it happen. I hope if someone will come to one of our shows they will feel a different energy. Something memorable.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

KONTER: Our plan is to play as many concerts in as many places as possible around the world in the next years, so I would love to say in 5 years from now, we will be a continuously touring at least around the EU, but hopefully around the world, and at least be an unmissable part of the Hungarian festival life. You can find us on most social media platforms. Our main platforms are Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Spotify, but you can also find us on Bandcamp as well.
