Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Stormstress

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Stormstress.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

STORMSTRESS: We are Stormstress – a vicious, all-female hard rock / heavy metal band hailing from Boston, MA. The band is co-fronted by identical-mirror-twin duo Tanya Venom and Tia Mayhem on the guitar and bass respectively, with the fierce Maddie May Scott on the drums and backing vocals.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

STORMSTRESS: Our main influences as a band are Halestorm, Avenged Sevenfold and Led Zeppelin.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

STORMSTRESS: On November 20th, we released our second single, “You Can’t Hurt Me Now,” with our first official theatrical music video! Lyrically, the song reflects on a sweet situation gone sour and the true empowerment that comes with not only realizing that you’ve been mistreated and that it’s time to go, but also summoning the courage to walk out the door, slam it shut, and lock it behind you. Musically, it’s a fast-moving drum, bass, and guitar barrage! I think we could all use a positive reminder of the massive internal power we all possess, especially in trying times such as these. We hope that this fierce song gives listeners the motivation they needed to lift themselves up off the ground and carry on.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

STORMSTRESS: Performing live is collectively our top favorite activity in the whole world so we put every last bit of energy we have into every show. People can expect a truly electric sonic experience with double bass pounding in their hearts, explosive guitar and bass solos, and three-part harmonies, as well as high energy stage antics ranging from the twins wirelessly letting loose on stage to bowing the guitar with a glowing cello bow. We aim to leave our fans imprinted with a lasting, intoxicating memory of a thrilling night to recall while singing back our contagious melodies.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

STORMSTRESS: Life is too short to dream small! The three of us have very enthusiastic and ambitious spirits so when we say we want to take the world by storm, we mean it. Within the next five years we aim to get signed by a professional label, release several full length albums, tour internationally with major artists, and break into the European festival circuit.
