Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Sammi Doll

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Sammi Doll.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

SAMMI DOLL: I play for a few artists (IAMX, Kat Von D, Bullet Height), but this is my first time as a solo artist releasing music under my name. It’s been a journey to get to this point, but I’m so happy with the decision.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

SAMMI DOLL: I’m influenced by an array of artists: Metric, 8mm, Alanis Morissette, Garbage … and most bands that existed between 1992-1998.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

SAMMI DOLL: My first and newest release is called “AN OM IE” – “AN OM IE” refers to the ‘Anomie Theory’ by French sociologist Emile Durkheim. It’s social disintegration; it states ‘individuals in a society are in permanent competition with each other, expect much of existence and demand much of it and find themselves perpetually haunted by the suffering that arises from the disproportion between their aspirations and their satisfaction.’ We, more than ever, live within an anomic society and we are our own worst enemies.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

SAMMI DOLL: A lot of energy, theatrical but dark attire, and chaotic strobe lights.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

SAMMI DOLL: Assuming the world has healed by then, on tour and playing festivals supporting a second LP!
