Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Emelle of Eternal Frequency.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
EMELLE: Hey there! My name is Emelle (M.L.) Elizabeth and I am the lead vocalist and founder of Central PA based Hard Rock band Eternal Frequency. Thanks for having me! EF formed back in May of 2018 and started gaining attention from our first ever single “Down”. The band really started picking up momentum and making a name for ourselves within the past year when Justin Walters (Lead Guitar), Tyler Travis (Bass), and Dane Lowell (Drums) joined up. There is a true sense of family and camaraderie among all of us and I couldn’t be more honored to have this incredible team working by my side. I’ve also seen a lot of growth in my guitarist A.J. Lopez as well who has been with me since the beginning and I couldn’t be more proud of him. We have been working diligently the past few months on a plethora of new material and I am beyond stoked for everyone to eventually hear it!
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
EMELLE: I give the same answer in every interview pretty much, but they never change haha. My main influences are Michael Jackson, Stevie Nicks, and Freddie Mercury. Why those three you ask? I say Michael Jackson because the man was a true visionary. He created tapestries of sounds and beats in his music. It was catchy, it was unique, it made you think. That man heard melodies and sounds that are beyond your wildest dreams and translated them into incredible and captivating song writing. Fun fact is that he couldn’t read a lick of music, he wrote everything by just feeling and passion alone. Now THAT’s inspiring. Then we have Stevie Nicks who is truly my spirit animal. She is my greatest lyrical inspiration and where I draw a lot of muse from. She was honest and as raw as can be and to me that is pure magic. Now…Freddie Mercury…need I say more? The man was a powerhouse vocalist and didn’t have a single care in the world what anyone thought of him. He never stuck to the status quo and consistently pushed every boundary. Talk about some serious motivation! It’s crazy to think about that “Bohemian Rhapsody” almost never saw the light of day but IT DID because Freddie Mercury didn’t take no for an answer. He’s a fantastic reminder to stick to your guns and trust your musical instinct. Who knows? You could possibly change the entertainment world because of it!
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
EMELLE: Our latest release is called “Parasite” and it is the perfect gutsy, ballsy, banger for anyone who’s having a bad day. I wrote the lyrics to this song originally as just a journal passage, something to get my feelings out on paper, but then my guitarist Justin started writing this dope hard hitting instrumental so we decided to mesh the two together. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made because in turn we wrote a really killer song that we are insanely proud of! I think everyone can relate to this song. “Parasite” is basically an “F You” to the cheaters, the liars, the fakes, and the manipulators and a statement saying that you will never again be pushed around. Never let anyone treat you like dirt. Stand up for yourself, take back your life and shrug off all of that nasty negativity. The song is available for streaming/download via Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music and more! You can check out the Music Video on our YouTube channel and on our website www.eternalfrequencyband.com!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
EMELLE: It’s really quite sad and unfortunate right now with not being able to play shows due to COVID. I know my band and I miss the stage terribly and interacting with the audiences. We feed off of the amazing vibe of the crowd and I know that’s what people can expect when they come to our shows. We create a high energy production with incredible musicianship and stellar vocals. Our songs are catchy as hell and guaranteed you will be humming them constantly walking out of the door of the venue after the show is over.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
EMELLE: We are a group of 5 wonderfully talented and hard working individuals who can accomplish anything we set our minds to. With that comes a spectacular career of doing remarkable things which I know in my heart is possible. I love these dudes with every fiber of my being and I’m so excited to see where the journey takes us over the course of the next 5 years. It’s going to be a ton of work, we will win some, we will lose some, and things won’t always go as planned, but we have the heart and determination to survive and come out bigger and stronger than ever. I’m so excited to continue to learn, to grow, and consistently work on myself as a singer and as a songwriter.
