Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Myosotis.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
MYOSOTIS: Sure! First of all, we are Myosotis, a six-headed Modern Metalcore Band from Hamburg, Germany. With the band`s name, which actually is the botanical name of the flower called “forget-me-not”, we want to create a feeling of a community for our listeners. Everybody is welcome and has the worth to be remembered and the value as a person to belong to something and to believe in something. Many people nowadays suffer in silence, in pain and have to face the pressure of society, family, work and other outbound factors alone. With the slogan \\WeAreMyosotis// we want to give them the feeling being part of something, that they can feel being understood.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
MYOSOTIS: This is quite difficult to define, since we all have different orientations in the music we listen to. We come from classically Metalcore and Hardcore as well as Jazz, Prog, Djent and other rhythmical genres but also Pop and Classic. Actually the influences for our songs are changing a lot as well and we do not keep the exact same style for longer periods since music is fluent and something that is frequently developing. Furthermore we personally are also developing a lot which has a big impact for the band as well.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
MYOSOTIS: We are about to release our new song called “What if…” on 17/07/2020 through Blood Blast Distribution. The song deals with having a dark passenger who pulls you down but sets you free. A situation between love, death and desire. It`s a heavy and meaningful song for us which we produced at Sawdust Recordings, which are well known in the scene and working together with Christoph Wieczorek was an awesome experience for us!
Generally the characteristics of our songs have a wide range which go far beyond classic Metalcore from progressive and very technical part to Jazz influenced rhythms and classical Pop chorus with some electronical backings. Lyrically we explore the depths of the human mind and process the emotions of love-hate, depression, change and distance and this variety is what we want to convey to our listeners, no matter which kind of music they are usually bound to. It`s about crossing borders but still keeping your own signature. We combine melodic stanzas and refrains with brutal breakdowns and technical verses contrasted with the passionate guttural and clean vocals.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
MYOSOTIS: Relying on our slogan \\WeAreMyosotis// our concerts should be a big family reunion! We want to use the stage to spread our vision and ideal of the Idea of Myosotis, that no one should be forgotten and everyone will be remembered. The people should be energized with our power which we transfer through the stage directly to the people and we want to give them strength to believe in their selves because that`s what a community can do for your when it comes together.
Additionally our performances should be an experience for everyone who sees us for the first time. We want the people to enjoy the time they`re watching us and to enable them to escape their daily struggles and to get back more recharged.
We welcome anyone, if he just wants to enjoy a beer while listening to some guitars or if he want to go totally wasted and get crazy in the pit, there is space of everyone!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
MYOSOTIS: Hopefully still hitting the stages Germany and Europe. Basically we just want to share the idea of Myosotis with as many people as possible. Of course it would be great to fulfill some dreams, for example playing a tour in Japan but we are aware that this won`t be easy to achieve. Nevertheless we will keep on spreading our music since this is our passion and what we love to do.
