Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Cathedral In Flames.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES: Once upon a time in Eastern Europe, in the ancient town of Prague… Two friends, singer Phil Lee Fall and bassist Gatsby, came together and formed a gothic rock band in the purest form of this style. They are at the moment joined by the angel’s voice of Ambra von Bernstein, former punk guitarist Billac de Ville and guitar spellbinder Mr. Theorodick.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES: We are influenced by bands like Sisters Of Mercy, Fields Of The Nephilim, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division. Our gothic fiction also drew inspiration from books by Gustav Meyrink and the western movies of Sergio Leone.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES: Our first album “Children Of The Blackest Hole” was just released. So if you like gothic rock, male baritone growling, postpunk bass deep as Leviathan and pompous melodies, check it out.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES: Last concert took place in the Church of St. Martin in the Old Town of Prague. Due to our show with massive sound, torches and smoke it was even visited by the local police. But the show was afterwards voted as one of the top gigs of the year in the leading music magazine Rock & Pop. Every concert must be THE EVENT for our fans. So next show is carefully planned and we work on a highly spectacular performance for all the goth fans.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES: We’ll be the biggest gothic rock act in the world 🙂
