As previously reported, original Saliva singer Josey Scott recently said that he is planning to return to the band for a new album and tour. Now, during an interview with Detroit’s WRIF, guitarist Wayne Swinny offered more insight into the situation, saying there has been talk “for a few months” and that the reunion will probably start in late 2020.

Swinny said the following:
“[Josey and I have] been chatting back and forth for a few months now. As soon as we started talking, I [told] Bobby [Amaru], ‘Look, man, there’s a possibility we’re gonna do this. I don’t know when. I don’t know the timeline.’ And to tell the truth, Bobby knew the 20-year anniversary [of the ‘Every Six Seconds’ record] was coming up before I did. And before any of this even came up, [Bobby] was, like, ‘Look, bro, if you’re all gonna do some reunion stuff, it’s totally cool. No sweat.’ And then literally maybe a month or two after that, [Josey and I] started talking back and forth.”
He went on to say the reunion will “probably” launch “later on in 2020”:
“The first record came out in 2001, so this would fall somewhere in us doing a 20-year reunion thing, which would be not 2020 but 2021. But what’s happened is there’s been text messages and we started talking. And everybody’s excited — Josey’s excited, I’m excited — everybody’s pumped up. Josey, I guess he couldn’t hold it in anymore. I don’t blame him. It’s been a long time.”
Swinny added:
“We’ve been on great terms — actually, all the ex-members; I’m still friends with everybody. We text and talk and send each other Christmas high-fives and stuff. We’ve all been in touch through the years. Finally, we talked about it enough, and I guess Josey is finally in a spot where he’s ready to do it. So I was, like, ‘Okay, bro. I’m your wingman. Let me know.’”
He also said he is “very thankful to Bobby for being so gracious and cool, and actually respectful all these years too, to the songs, to the original deal.” He continued:
“It’s been great. But for right now — for the rest of this year and for the foreseeable future of 2020, the lineup as it exists right now with Bobby Amaru, Brad Stewart, Paul Crosby and myself, we’ll still be doing some shows and we’ll be collaborating and writing some songs. I know Josey’s anxious to get in the studio and start putting [songs together]. He said he’s got all kinds of ideas. I haven’t heard anything, we haven’t started on anything yet, but, yes, the clock has started ticking. So, it will happen. It’s just gonna be a little bit first.”
Swinny also added:
“If and when everything happens with the reunion, that’ll kind of make its own course. But I can’t quit writing and playing with Bobby too. I’m sure we’ll keep doing stuff.
There’s nothing on paper. I don’t know how long Josey wants to come back — if he wants to come back for good or if it’s gonna be a reunion CD and a reunion tour and then he’s done. I’m not sure. It’s all preliminary and barely been discussed at this point.
As it stands, we will continue to do some shows with the current lineup, and it’ll be business as usual for a while. And then, as things start getting closer, we’ll probably take a break and set up the reunion thing — who all wants to be involved, who is involved. Like I said, nothing is really on paper now. But Chris [D’Abaldo, former SALIVA rhythm guitarist], myself and Josey have spoken. So we’ll see who all else wants to do it.”
