Iron Maiden File $2 Million Trademark Lawsuit Over “Ion Maiden” Video Game

According to The Daily Beast, Iron Maiden’s holding company, Iron Maiden Holdings Limited, has filed a $2 million infringement lawsuit against 3D Realms over their new video game “Ion Maiden.” The suit says the company is committing “incredibly blatant” trademark infringement and that it could cause “confusion among consumers.” It went on to say the “defendant’s Ion Maiden name is nearly identical to the Iron Maiden trademark in appearance, sound and overall commercial impression” and that it “also uses the Ion Maiden name to sell merchandise including shirts and mouse pads.” Iron Maiden Holdings Limited claims 3D Realms engaged in federal trademark infringement, unfair competition, and more due to their “virtually identical imitation” of the band’s trademark. In addition to the $2 million, they are also trying to get 3D Realms to stop using “confusingly similar” products and to give up ownership of ionmaiden.com.
