Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Russell James

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Russell James.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

JAMES: Hmmmm…..this one definitely gets me thinking. I’ve had so many influences from so many talented artists/bands from completely different genres that it makes it hard to really narrow it down. I can say as of right now my biggest influences are probably Maroon 5, Twenty One Pilots, Logic, NF, Rag n’ Bone Man, Ellie Goulding, and Taylor Swift.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

JAMES: My latest release is my new single “Comedown”. I also released a music video for the song which you can check out on YouTube and Facebook. The song is available on all major music outlets online. I really enjoy this song and I feel it really has a sound if it’s own. It has catchy melodies, a nice rhythm that sets the pace for the song, and many people can relate to the context of the lyrics as well. I’m definitely proud of this one.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

JAMES: Raw, Energetic, Genuine, Positive vibes.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

JAMES: You can accomplish a lot in five years. I usually set goals a year ahead at a time so I’ve never really thought out that much in advance. I hope to have reached people all over the world with my music and positively impacted many people’s lives as much as possible in that amount of time. Also, opening up for a major act such as Ellie Goulding or Maroon 5 would be cool.
