Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Align The Tide.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
ALIGN THE TIDE: Formed in September 2015, the band experimented with several different music sounds while working alongside different local musicians, extracting influences and styles. The founders of the band Danny on Drums & Kyle on Guitars/Vocals, have been exploring music genres for the past nine years before settling in the active sound you hear today! Joining the ranks with Gabriel on bass & Alston on rhythm guitar, the line-up was completed. Together, they composed music based on thrash, groove & melodic metal resulting in the recording of their debut album ‘Dead Religion’ & videos for ‘The Golden Throne’ & ‘Welcome to Hell’ from the same self-financed record. Merchandise has been designed & produced to accompany the above release. The band participated in several local gigs & festivals where they have rooted their main fan base before embarking on a mini European tour visiting Germany and the Czech Republic. In March 2018, the band supported the legendary band Mushroomhead on their American tour visiting several main cities such as Mesa, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Jerome, Fort Collins, Denver, Colorado Springs, Lincoln, Waterloo, Minneapolis, Joliet, Madison, Racine, Cleveland. As time went by, Alston decided to take a break from the music business and thus, Nikki was recruited to the family as rhythm guitar.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
ALIGN THE TIDE: Gabriel Camilleri: As individual musicians we all have our own music tastes and preferred style of playing, this helped a lot in shaping the Align the Tide sound as we see it as an interesting mixture of genres and sounds that come from our personal experience. This makes Align the Tide alive and with a sound that is constantly evolving as we learn more about music and how to exchange these experiences and create new ones together in the band. I personally come from a background of technical bass playing as my influences come from bands like Death, Rings of Saturn, Born of Osiris ect. Danny listens to and is influenced by bands like Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe and Slipknot. Kyle spent most of his teenage years listening to Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine and Korn. Nikki enjoys most genres of metal but is mostly influenced by Lamb Of God, Slipknot and Killswitch Engage. This varied mix of styles and influences make up the sound that is Align the Tide.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
ALIGN THE TIDE: Gabriel Camilleri: We recently released the single ‘Dead Religion’, the title track for the album. A great mix of various genres which is bound to hit every listener’s palate!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
ALIGN THE TIDE: Gabriel Camilleri: Expect a great energy, a head banging vibe and LOUD MUSIC!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in 5 years?
