Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With After The Calm

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with with David Nunez of After The Calm.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

DAVID NUNEZ: Consider us an Alt-core band from the hot desert of Phoenix, Arizona. Yeah, I made that up, Alternative to Hardcore… think about it. There are five of us Logan Miracle (VOX), David Nunez (Lead Guitar), Jonathan Habermacher (Rhythm Guitar), Henry Cota (Bass), and Kody Rattler (Drums).

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

DAVID NUNEZ: From System of a Down to the Smashing Pumpkins, it’s all in there. We have decades worth of influences from the youngest member to the oldest. But personally, I’m a 90’s kid all the way.

METAL ANARCHY: What can you say about your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

DAVID NUNEZ: Our latest release is “Stuck On Repeat” and you all should take a listen if you appreciate a group of guys pouring their hearts and souls into their music. Oh, and the production isn’t bad. We had the genius that is From First To Last’s Matt Good (The Word Alive, Asking Alexandria) produce this track.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

DAVID NUNEZ: They’ll get their money’s worth and plus some. We are there to give an experience. It’s probably a good idea to live up to our name, After the Calm.
