Joan Jett’s Full Discography Is Now Streaming For The First Time

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts’ catalog has been made available on streaming services for the first time following a new worldwide deal between Blackheart Records and Sony Music Entertainment/Legacy Recordings involving the rights to Joan Jett’s full discography. As part of the agreement, the catalog will be available under the SME/Legacy umbrella and it will be released in digital and physical formats. Furthermore, SME’s Thread Shop will also be administering Joan Jett’s exclusive merchandising rights.

Blackheart Records VP Carianne Brinkman issued the following statement:

“Blackheart is excited to be working with Sony Legacy, particularly as we enter into the streaming space with the Blackheart Records catalog, including the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts catalog in its entirety. They are the best at what they do and understand the brands and artists they work with. We feel it is the perfect partnership.”

SME Commercial Music Group President Richard Story added:

“The music of Joan Jett — raw, real and uncompromising — has been an essential part of the pop culture landscape across four decades. Sony Music and Legacy Recordings are both honored and thrilled to be part of the Joan Jett saga and look forward to bringing her music and attitude to future rockers.”

In other news Legacy Recordings will also release the soundtrack to Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” documentary. That effort will come with classic songs, a new track titled “Fresh Start,” a previously unreleased song called “Androgynous,” which features Joan Jett along with Miley Cyrus and Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), and other tracks from The Runaways, Bikini Kill, members of the Sex Pistols, etc.

It is also worth noting that the deal also includes recordings by Evil Stig, Cherie Currie, FEA, Jackknife Stiletto, Girl in a Coma, The Dollyrots, The Vacancies, The Cute Lepers and The Eyeliners, along with “various artists” compilation albums.
