Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Rozu

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Rozu.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

ROZU: Well first off this band is very new and very fresh which makes it super fun. We all kind of got to talking around last December/January about this vision and idea for the band and honestly the pieces just started falling into place. All of us have been involved in the Denver scene for so long playing in a few bands and having some pretty damn good touring experience but we were all the guys in our own collective groups who were really the driving factors of pushing forward. We all have this mindset of knowing what it takes to be a touring musician and all have this fire and drive within us which has been a soothing feeling starting Rozu. We have just been constantly writing since January in our little studio and wanted to get to a point where we are able to just constantly release great content and start/continue to build a following. We want to be that band that keeps ourselves and our fans on their toes with a lot of diversity in our writing. Our music as of right now (finished products) goes from very heavy to post hardcore to even a few acoustic stand alone songs which we feel makes us very unique in a sense. It’s a super breath of fresh air after all these years of trying to find the right people to create art with.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

ROZU: Anything and everything really, as cliche as that sounds. We all just have such different tastes and backgrounds in music but all really connect on a level of love for post hardcore music such as Underoath, Chiodos, Finch, Saosin, and Taking Back Sunday just to name a few. With our current release and the ones we have planned we drew a lot of heavier influences like Currents, Oceans Ate Alaska, Like Moths To Flames, and The Plot In You. We really are all over the board.

METAL ANARCHY: What can you say about your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

ROZU: Our latest release is our debut single ‘Dissolve’ and is a real mixture of all of these styles coming together. It is melodic, catchy, and in parts just really heavy. It’s driving and just has so much emotion and honesty to it. If you need a new song for your run or workout playlist this song really is for you.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

ROZU: We like to all put on a show that’s for damn sure. We really make it a point to be constantly moving and get really fired up about the songs we play. It is an honest energy because we are writing music that we love and it translates with just having a fucking blast playing them, that kind of shit is contagious so anyone coming to a show will really get into the music with us and have a good time! Lastly it will be sweaty!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

ROZU: We really have no idea at this point in time, obviously we hope to just be touring a lot and continuing to grow as a band. Right now we are just really excited and focused to continue writing and putting out music for our ever growing fan base. You just never know what that next thing will be for a band with an ever-changing industry but we are just ready to work our asses off and be known for a truly hardworking band that is doing this for all the right reasons and just not the “I’m in a band” mentality.
