The Story About The Elderly Men Escaping Their Nursing Home To Attend Wacken Open Air May Not Be Entirely True

A story about two elderly men breaking out of their nursing home to attend Wacken Open Air in Germany recently went viral, but now it appears the story isn’t exactly true. Associated Press are now reporting that Itzehoe police spokesman Peter Berndt has since clarified that the men were actually 58 and 59 and that they left a home for people with mental health issues. On top of that, they weren’t even trying to go to the festival. They just wanted to party in the town of Wacken. The men were found “disoriented and dazed” by festival goers, while they were waiting for a bus at 3 a.m. After being taken to a first-aid station, they were sent back to the home in a taxi. This year’s festival featured Judas Priest, Danzig, Hatebreed, In Flames, Arch Enemy, and more.
