Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With T.R.O.Y.

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with T.R.O.Y. vocalist/guitarist Cord Bishop.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

BISHOP: TROY is an acronym for The Reality Of Yourself, spawning from the ideal that thought truly manifests reality. We are a 4 piece band out of Missouri with a high reverence for the spirit of rock, and bring our own ethereal edge to the table through our songs & live show.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

BISHOP: Metallica & Tool were big influences on the band in the early days. As a collective, we all feel inspired by the greats like Floyd, Zep, Allman Brothers & The Beatles. Our night cap album after shows on the road is always Pink Floyd’s “Animals”. It’s just sheer magic.

Erik Milan (drums) – “Yeah my first concert ever was Genesis when I was 8. That experience changed my life and made it clear to me that I needed to be a drummer. After that I soaked up everything I could get my ears on like John Bonham, Vinnie Paul, Dave Grohl, etc.”

Kyle Girth (guitar) – “My personal influences from a guitarist standpoint are guys like Ace Frehley, Randy Rhodes, Slash, Glenn Tipton/KK Downing, Willy Adler, Darrell Abbott, Jake E. Lee & Ted Nugent”.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

BISHOP: “Wicked World” is our newest single. Listeners can really relate with the dark reality of the lyrics. It’s so relevant to what is going on in the world right now. We were lucky enough to cut this track with the legendary Jay Baumgardner (Three Days Grace, P.O.D, Bush) , at NRG studios in Hollywood. That LA vibe really helped capture the angst that was all up in “Wicked World.”

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

BISHOP: A unique high- energy experience for sure. People can expect a true connection with the music through the lens of a loud, heavy rock show. With four passionate dudes that want to meet every soul afterward.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

BISHOP: Touring, touring, recording & touring
