NOFX Receive Backlash After Joking About Las Vegas Concert Shooting During The Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival

NOFX are receiving backlash after making a joke about the October 2017 Las Vegas, NV shooting during their set at the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival. After finishing a song, frontman Fat Mike said “We played a song about Muslims and we didn’t get shot. Hooray.” Guitarist Eric Melvin continued: “I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you’re in a country band.” Fat Mike then responded: “You know that sucked but at least they were country fans and not punk rock fans.” The band then told the offended crowd the following: “You were all thinking it.” “But he said it.” “Did I offend somebody? I can’t fucking believe it.”

The founders of the festival have since issued the following statement:

“In light of NOFX’s comments during their performance at Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, we would like to offer a formal apology to those in attendance, the City of Las Vegas, the victims, and the families of 10/1.

Las Vegas is home to the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival, and we do not condone the statements made from our stage on Sunday night. We take the safety of our festival goers seriously and want to relay that, there is nothing funny about people being shot and murdered, ever.

Mark Stern and Shawn Stern
Founders of Punk Rock Bowling”
