Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With The Sourheads

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with The Sourheads.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

THE SOURHEADS: We are The Sourheads and Jake on Vocals, Ben on Bass, Lamb on Drums and Mik on guitar. We are a loud rock band. We formed in 2011 initially but this line up has been around since 2016. We fuse different styles of rock together to form our own vision. Some say its Stoner rock, some say its Classic rock it’s also punkie and bluesy in parts.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

THE SOURHEADS: The Doors, Iggy and The Stooges, Pearl Jam, Deftones, The Charlatans, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

THE SOURHEADS: We have an album out on Oak Island Records called ‘Care Plan For The Soul’ It’s out on vinyl, CD and digitally and it is a true piece of music. No band wagon jumping or copying other people. Its varied in styles and its heavy but melodic and shouty but gentle in parts.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

THE SOURHEADS: We give 100 percent at our shows. Jake is the bare-chested lunatic on stage thriving and thrusting his guttural grunts into the ears of the audience. I pull all my Paul Stanley moves because that’s what I grew up with wind milling my arm. It’s a great rock n roll show.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

THE SOURHEADS: Hopefully still doing more of what we are doing now. If people want us we will be there. We want to be a career band that has a large solid back catalogue. We want to evolve with our listeners. We aren’t young though so hope none of us have a heart attack.
