It looks like Billie Joe Armstrong had a rockin’ New Year’s Eve. The Green Day frontman spent his night in New York City at Jesse Malin’s East Village club Berlin performing alongside The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson, The Hold Steady’s Tad Kubler, Blondie’s Clem Burke, the E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt, Malin, his sons, etc. The musicians played a number of covers including tracks like The Replacements’ “Color Me Surprised.”
Rang in 2018 watching Jesse Malin, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Little Steven (Springsteen), Tommy Stinson (The Replacements), Tad Kubler (The Hold Steady) and a whole bunch of friends play punk covers. Not a bad start to (hopefully) a good year. Happy 2018 everybody! . . . . . . . . #JesseMalin #GreenDay #LittleSteven #brucespringsteen #tommystinson #thereplacements #theholdsteady #newyork #nyc #newyears #newyearseve #music #concert #livemusic #concertphotography
That time your band is Green Day, Blondie, The Hold Steady + @johnny_pisano. AND you’re in a room full of your favorite people. AND I have no damn clue how I got there, but it was a blast. A huge thanks to @billiejoearmstrong and @jesse_malin for dedicating themselves selflessly to the evening for the joy of all. As well as all the musicians who played and played. AND the @cat_popper wardrobe changes. Was blessed to be a part of it. #HappyNewYears good people of earth. And thanks @gail_hoffman for the pics! Now it’s time to write some new songs.
