According to Stuff.co.nz, AC/DC drummer, Phil Rudd has been charged with “attempting to procure a murder.” Apparently, Rudd hired a hitman to kill two men. The drummer’s house has been raided and he is now being charged for “threatening to kill” and for possession of meth and cannabis.
Rudd is currently out on bail and is forbidden from contacting the man he hired for the killings. He is also scheduled for another court appearance, in three weeks. One of the alleged victims has chosen to remain quiet, until he talks to a lawyer.
Rudd had previously missed an AC/DC video shoot and wasn’t present in the band’s recent promotional photo. It is unknown if this shocking revelation is responsible for his absence.
UPDATE: AC/DC have now issued the following statement about the situation:
“We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.”
