Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Jawfane

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Jawfane.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

JAWFANE: Jawfane is a post-hardcore outfit based in Nashville, Tennessee. Assembled from old and new players to the Nashville hardcore scene, We’ve set out on a mission to be true to ourselves as artists, and to connect to our fellow man. Constantly pushing the envelope on our abilities and the art of catharsis.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

JAWFANE: Speaking for myself, (Jesse Jawfane), some artists I found influential are Woodkid, If These Trees Could Talk, Faunts, The Protomen, Loathe… I could go on, but those bands have had a stranglehold on me.

As for Cory, I’ve done poorly on memorizing bandnames, but he’s far more cultured than I am when it comes to the scene’s music. Lotta Taking Back Sunday and the like. Don Broco. Loooootta Don Broco. Love that.

For Chase, It’s Tool, bar none. I can say the same. Their approach to music has done a lot to change what we thought was possible.

For AJ, It’s Dance Gavin Dance and System of a Down. I’ve known him to listen to some electronic music, but I am horrible and can’t remember. I know I can feel it through his drum playing. Stellar stuff man.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

JAWFANE: Our latest single, ‘Raise’ featuring Paulsdeeep, comes long awaited after being confined to only live performances in The First Age of Jawfane. Original vocalist Paul Graham returns to bring the house down for one more song. It was thrilling to collaborate again and do this song justice after so long. A lot of work went into bringing this song into the world again. For the music video that accompanied the single, we meticulously scoured archival footage of past shows. Brought back a lot of good memories. I hope to share the feeling with you, dear reader.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

JAWFANE: A rich sonic experience, fueled by the chemistry of some of Nashville’s most tenacious in the scene. A sense of brotherhood. We want you to feel like you’re in a space where you can feel and understand our mission:

A catharsis and connection like no other. Every note, every lyric, every layer is crafted to resonate with real people—the fans who show up, share the journey, and carry the songs with them. We’re building a space where emotion has shape, intensity meets reflection, and the experience is collective.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

JAWFANE: The Ryman Auditorium. Three more albums, at least 2. More singles, hoodies, more friends, more opportunities to play alongside amazing people. Five more years of knowledge under our belt on our instruments, and the chance to become better songwriters along the way.

Oh, and a deal with Yuengling. Heheheh.
