According to CBS 6 (WTVR), Turnstile’s September 24 show at Brown’s Island in Richmond, VA ended in chaos after a police officer decided to break out his pepper spray. The band were inviting fans onstage for a performance of “Birds” when local law enforcement assisting security started pushing back. Bassist/vocalist Franz Lyons even tried to help a fan get onstage as security intervened. At one point, an officer discharged his pepper spray into one fan’s face. The chemical also spilled over to other concertgoers and members of the band. Fans tried to flush each other’s eyes out with water and some even had symptoms the next day. A teen reportedly needed to have medical attention as well. Notably, Richmond Sheriff Antionette Irving has since opened an investigation into the incident.
