Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Katerina Nicole.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your project:
NICOLE: Engaging in sonic experimentation with Oodelally Recordings has been an incredible blessing for me over the past few years. Jordan Chase provided me with the opportunity to bring ‘Serene in Violent Oceans’ to life. I arrived with concepts, emotions, themes, and hooks to shape the dark pop metal direction we aimed to achieve. When Jordan introduced a drop F and inquired, “Is this too heavy?” my response was a resounding, “Absolutely not!” We dedicated a month and a half to refining and defining my sound.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
NICOLE: During the creation of this EP, I aimed to incorporate the music that resonated with me during my formative years. The influences include a blend of Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Rise Against, Billy Talent, and Journey. However, my musical development has not been solely shaped by alternative sounds. I have been training since the age of six, during which I was inspired by artists such as Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Elvis Presley, Christina Aguilera, and Barry White.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
NICOLE: My latest release features an acoustic rendition of ‘Emotionally,’ which I performed live at Oodelally Recordings alongside my guitarist, Colton Douglas. I viewed this as an excellent opportunity to present a more tender aspect of my artistry. Experiencing the authenticity of my true self in the moment was incredibly fulfilling. While embracing such vulnerability poses a challenge, I have been increasingly motivated to pursue this path.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
NICOLE: I believe that new listeners will be captivated by my understated, vintage, and glamorous style, reminiscent of a Jazz concert atmosphere. I aim to astonish the audience when I begin to deliver intense lyrics or unleash a cathartic scream! Above all, my goal is to provide fans with an unforgettable and enjoyable evening.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band in five years?
NICOLE: I am gaining extensive knowledge about the various elements of touring and life on the road. I have ambitious aspirations to sell out stadiums and collaborate with exceptionally talented metalcore artists. The idea of performing duets and sharing each other’s songs is a dream come true for me. I have a deep appreciation for collaboration and witnessing the creative process of others unfold before me. There are numerous gothic venues that would provide the intense atmosphere I seek. I sense that my fans, along with new listeners, are yearning for something unique that I can offer. My primary focus at this moment is to produce more tracks, ensuring that I can deliver an unforgettable experience when the opportunity to fill stadiums arises.
