Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Håbrand.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
HÅBRAND: We are Carl Westholm (Carptree, Bakelit, ex-Avatarium, Candlemass) on keyboards, synths and drum machines and Johan Niemann (Evergrey, ex-Therion, Talisman) on bass and guitars. We first met when we both played with Tiamat and decided that we should start a band. That band became Hollingshead and this band is an off-shoot of that. The idea was to do something we hadn’t done before, in a way we had never worked.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
HÅBRAND: For this band? I don’t really know. It’s an open field, since we’ve not done this before. We like cinema and movie soundtracks, so I’m sure some of that has creeped into our consciousness.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
HÅBRAND: This album is our debut. It is called ”Shining. But Dead” and everyone who has an open mind and wants to listen to something slightly different from the norm should listen to this. You just might enjoy it.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
HÅBRAND: We have no live shows planned.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
HÅBRAND: As long as we’re writing music that means something to us and we’re having fun doing it, we’ll continue. I’m sure we have more music in us.
