As previously reported, Sanguisugabogg have generated controversy by releasing a new shirt inspired by Luigi Mangione, the man who was charged with assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The merch item features the phrase “Free Luigi” along with a photo of Luigi from “Super Mario” assassinating Bowser. Now, vocalist Devin Swank has revealed that the proceeds from the shirt will be donated to charity to help people with medical debt.

Swank commented:
“Follow @deadasclothes (shop name change after pre order is closed) Pre order ends Monday.
Thank you guys for your orders while I get everything set up I wanted everyone to know not only is this design purely out of comedy and not advocating any side of the matter I wanna give back and let people know that the money being spent on these will go to actual good use and that I will be giving back and supporting 2 organizations with an equal donation that helps people receive healthcare and not get buried by the burden of medical debt
Undue Medical Debt – A nonprofit organization that’s rated 4/4 Stars on Charity Navigator with a mission to buy and erase the medical debts of everyday people, freeing them from bills they can’t afford
Patient Advocate Foundation – A nonprofit organization rated 4/4 stars on Charity Navigator with a mission to safeguard patients with chronic, life-threatening and debilitating diseases by effectively meditating issues related to access to care and preserving their financial stability
Nobody should be denied medical help or be in a heaping pile of debt just to be able to stick around in life and that’s something I think everyone can agree on.
I’ve posted links in my Linktree to donate to both of these organizations even if you wish to order a shirt or not”
