Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Exxasens

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Exxasens.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

EXXASENS: Exxasens is an instrumental post-rock/post-metal band from Barcelona. We create atmospheric soundscapes that combine cinematic intensity with a powerful, guitar-driven energy. Our music is designed to take listeners on a journey, exploring themes of space, science, and personal introspection. Since we’re an instrumental band, we focus heavily on creating emotion and storytelling through melodies, textures, and dynamics rather than lyrics.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

EXXASENS: Our influences range widely across genres. Bands like Explosions in the Sky, Russian Circles, and God Is an Astronaut have inspired our post-rock and post-metal sounds. We’re also influenced by electronic and cinematic composers, like Hans Zimmer and Vangelis, whose music brings a sense of epic scale and emotional depth. Our sound is a mix of those atmospheric, post-rock roots combined with the intensity and scale of film scores.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

EXXASENS: Our latest release, ‘Infinitum,’ just dropped, and we’re really proud of how it turned out. This album captures everything we love about instrumental music: powerful riffs, ambient textures, and a cinematic feel that takes you to another place. ‘Infinitum’ pushes our sound to new levels, blending our post-rock foundation with a more refined and intense approach. If you’re into music that takes you on an emotional journey and creates a soundtrack to your imagination, we think you’ll find something to connect with in ‘Infinitum.’

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

EXXASENS: At an Exxasens show, you can expect an immersive experience. We aim to create a full sensory journey, combining our music with visuals and lighting that enhance the mood and story behind each track. Since our music is instrumental, every song leaves space for the audience’s own interpretation, making each show feel personal and unique. Our goal is for people to feel like they’re entering another world when they come to see us live.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

EXXASENS: In five years, we hope to be touring more extensively, reaching audiences in new parts of the world. We’re especially interested in connecting with listeners in Asia, Europe, and beyond. Creatively, we want to keep pushing our sound further, exploring new musical textures and possibly integrating more cinematic and electronic elements. Our ultimate goal is to create music that resonates deeply with listeners, inspiring them to join us on this journey as we continue to evolve.
