Metal Anarchy

On September 22, Green Day were honored with the key to the city of Pinole, CA for their “profound impact and ties to the local community.” The ceremony took place in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven across the street from Pinole High School. Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt both attended that school and spent a lot of time at the aforementioned 7-Eleven. The business was even referenced in their 2004 song “Jesus Of Suburbia” as part of an iconic line that says “At the center of the earth in the parking lot / Of the 7-Eleven where I was taught.” As such, a new plaque outside the 7-Eleven says “At the center of the earth in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven….Billie, Mike, and Tre were here.”
