Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Minneriket

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Minneriket.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

MINNERIKET: I founded Minneriket as a one-man band in 2014. I like to think it’s a unique sound, and I’ve previously labeled it as romantic black metal. I’ve released a few albums under this name for the last 10 years, and will continue to expand and evolve.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

MINNERIKET: As a Norwegian metal musician I stand on the shoulders of giants, and have of course been influenced by my country men, as well as other genres such as classical, goth and punk. I always try to find something I like within most genres of music, and analyze what works and what I can learn from it.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

MINNERIKET: The latest official release was ‘Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile,’ a huge and ambitious opus with around 20 guests. It’s a challenging album, and combines the hard and rough edges with the really beautiful and soft atmospheres. Right now I’m working on an anniversary release celebrating 10 years of Minneriket which will be a good starting point for new listeners..

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

MINNERIKET: Minneriket is a one-man band and does not play live.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

MINNERIKET: I’ll continue on the same path; creating new and experimental music deeply rooted in my own visions. Within five years I will probably have released a new full length album and be well on the way with a follow-up. I’ll probably have evolved the sound a lot again, as I often do, making sure nothing gets stale. I need the change of pace and keep challenging myself.
