During their August 19 show at the Suffolk Downs in Boston, MA, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard invited a fan named Timmy onstage to pay tribute to his late friend Joey with a performance of “Perihelion.” You can see fan-filmed footage of him playing guitar on the song below. Sadly, Joey passed away in February following an avalanche. He was a huge fan of the band and “Perihelion” happened to be his favorite song. Timmy told the crowd the following:
“Anyone here, who’s with a friend tonight, just make sure you cherish this moment, because it’s a really hard lesson to learn that this moment won’t last forever.”
