Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Atomic Agent

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Atomic Agent.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

ATOMIC AGENT: Atomic Agent started as a solo project some years ago, until I (I as in Al Aston, handling all vocals and instruments) realized I need to take this further. At first it was purely a personal attempt to do some very basic Goth/Gothic Rock along the lines of The Sisters Of Mercy and stuff like that, but quickly I got more ambitious with wanting my own sound as I brought more and more of natural instruments in. Last December saw the release of the debut album, “Secret Society.” This year I’ve recorded more new songs, and only a few days ago Atomic Agent released two singles, called “Diva” and “Shelter.” I’ve also added more members to the band for live purposes, so at some point we’ll be taking this thing on stage too.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

ATOMIC AGENT: It’s a long list, but here goes naming some of them: Love Like Blood, The Sisters Of Mercy, Billy Idol, Danzig, Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, Rosetta Stone, Fields Of The Nephilim, Elvis Presley, Depeche Mode, Sielun Veljet, Smack.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

ATOMIC AGENT: On the 20th of May this year Atomic Agent released two singles, called “Diva” and “Shelter.” “Diva” is a rather laid-back hardrock song with dark Goth elements and a catchy chorus, and it features a prominent Finnish talent Amanda Aalto on guest vocals. “Shelter” is a song about catharsis, like when you’ve come home after a long and exhausting journey. It has elements from punk and grunge, and it presents a fresh side from my voice.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

ATOMIC AGENT: Lots of intensity. We’re still in the rehearsing phase with the new line-up, but every time we play the songs, the intensity is there already. Expect lots of groove too, so it’ll be a butt-shaking experience.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

ATOMIC AGENT: If everything goes as planned, Atomic Agent is a well-established band that plays with some of the best names in the scene.
