Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Devilskin bassist Paul Martin.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
MARTIN: We are a 4 piece, female fronted rock band from NZ. We have 5 releases including our latest EP “Surfacing.” We have worked hard to get a great reputation as a live band. We have gold and platinum albums and regularly sell out shows here in NZ.. We have toured NZ, Australia and Europe a number of times, played the Whiskey A Go-Go, Download UK and Australia and shared the stage with some of the best in the business (Halestorm, Slash, Rob Zombie, Airbourne…)
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
MARTIN: We all have very broad musical tastes but gravitate to the heavier stuff. Personally, Sabbath, Pantera, Testament, Purple, and Uriah Heep were very important as I was growing up. Jen loves FNM, Deftones, Nic loves Coheed and Cambria and Spiritbox, Nail loves his thrash, Anthrax, Testament, Pantera, Megadeth, Slipknot.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
MARTIN: Our latest release is titled “Surfacing.” You guys need to check out our blistering versions of Heart’s “Barracuda” and Dio’s “Holy Diver.” There’s a track called “Unborn” which is very special to us as well. It’ll kick your butt!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
MARTIN: Energy! High impact rock n roll! A vocalist that will make your jaw drop. A crowd of people having the time of their lives!!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
MARTIN: Back to Europe and back to the United States where we seem to have acquired a huge following. Touring, writing and recording more!
