Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Sanity.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
SANITY: We are Sanity from Berlin, Germany. We are four guys, Florian vocals, Silas on bass, Philipp on drums, and myself, Julius, on guitar. Our music is a blend of death, black and symphonic metal and definitely leans towards the more extreme sounds of metal. The band was formed in 1994 and released three albums in the 90ies and early 2000s. These albums sound very dark compared to our recent releases.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
SANITY: We are all rooted in metal but come from different corners. Florian and Philipp are influenced by black and death metal while Silas comes from black and symphonic metal. I have my roots in progressive and thrash metal. My biggest influences are Dream Theater, Megadeth and Death.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
SANITY: Our latest release is the EP ‘The Beast’ and you should check it out because it is good music. It’s well produced, well written – it just sounds great. If you like metal and especially if you love high quality black metal with symphonic elements this is the record for you. The black metal aspects of our music are very present on that record.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
SANITY: The focus of our live shows (other than the music) are the lyrics of our songs. The lyrics to our latest releases are taken from the bible, from the book of Revelation and that goes really well with our music. In our shows you’ll have your usual metal band playing tight but you will also have the opportunity to loose yourself within in the lyrics of our songs. And what is truly unique about our shows is that we’ll have a second singer to sing the harsh growling and screaming while Florian sings the clean parts. That creates a haunting atmosphere and makes for a unforgettable live show.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
SANITY: We’ll be playing the music we will have written at that point which hopefully will be a lot. We’ll be writing new music for sure. And we will probably have our first bigger tour, in which we play venues across Europe.
Until then you can check out our music videos for ‘Throne’ and ‘Seals.’ And you can find us at sanity.berlin, YouTube, Instagram, Bandcamp, Facebook, Twitter/X, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
