Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Non Talkers

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Non Talkers.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

NON TALKERS: Non Talkers is a pop-folk duo from Portugal, formed by me, Marco Brantner, and my wife, Evita Brantner. Our music blends personal experiences and emotions into compelling melodies and meaningful lyrics. Since our formation in 2019, we’ve been committed to creating a deep connection with our listeners, exploring themes of love, personal growth, and the complexities of human relationships. Our latest album, “Roots,” reflects this journey, delving into our musical roots and telling stories that are both personal and universal. With a focus on authenticity and intimacy, we aim to provide songs that truly resonate with people, inviting them into our world through our music.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

NON TALKERS: Our main influences span a wide range of genres and artists, reflecting the diversity in our music. We draw inspiration from classic rock and folk legends like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Joni Mitchell, whose storytelling and lyrical prowess have deeply impacted our approach to songwriting. Contemporary bands such as The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and Kodaline also influence us with their modern take on folk and indie music, blending heartfelt lyrics with captivating melodies. Additionally, the emotional depth and vocal intensity of artists like Lewis Capaldi and Florence + The Machine inspire us to explore the richness of human emotions in our songs. These influences collectively shape our sound, guiding us to create music that resonates with both depth and accessibility.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

NON TALKERS: Our latest release is the album “Roots,” a deeply personal project that explores our musical influences, personal experiences, and the universal themes of love, loss, and growth. “Roots” is an invitation to our listeners to delve into stories that, while uniquely ours, resonate on a universal level. Each track is crafted with care, blending folk and pop elements to create a sound that is both familiar and fresh. This album stands out for its authentic storytelling, emotional depth, and the intimate connection it seeks to build with the audience. We believe readers of this site will appreciate “Roots” for its lyrical honesty, musicality, and the journey it represents — not just our journey as artists, but the shared journey of all who listen.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

NON TALKERS: At our live shows, people can expect an intimate and emotionally charged experience. We strive to create a connection with our audience, sharing stories and emotions through our music in a way that feels personal and engaging. Our performances are not just about playing songs; they’re about creating moments, sharing vulnerabilities, and celebrating the joy of music together. We blend acoustic elements with heartfelt vocals, ensuring each song is delivered with authenticity and passion. Whether it’s the dynamic energy of our more upbeat tracks or the tender, reflective moments of our ballads, attendees can look forward to a show that resonates long after the last note is played. Our goal is for everyone to leave feeling a little closer to us, to each other, and to the music that brings us all together.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

NON TALKERS: In five years, we see Non Talkers expanding our reach both musically and geographically. We envision releasing more albums that continue to evolve our sound, exploring new themes and musical landscapes while staying true to our emotive storytelling roots. Our goal is to build a larger international audience, taking our music beyond Portugal to stages around the world, and connecting with fans across different cultures and backgrounds. We also aim to collaborate with other artists, blending our sound with diverse musical influences to create something uniquely captivating. Beyond just performing, we’re passionate about using our platform to make a positive impact, whether through supporting causes close to our hearts or inspiring others with our music. Ultimately, we want Non Talkers to be synonymous with heartfelt music that speaks to the soul, and to be artists who leave a lasting, positive mark on the music industry.
