According to Rolling Stone, Cher has been denied an expedited attempt to gain a temporary conservatorship over her and the late Gregg Allman’s son Elijah Blue Allman (Deadsy). The pop star was attempting to establish the conservatorship due to his alleged “mental health and substance abuse issues.”

Elijah reportedly receives $120,000 USD a year from his father’s trust, but Cher’s representatives Loeb & Loeb were concerned about him using the money on drugs. The following was said about that last month:
“Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, petitioner [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk. Elijah is currently unable to manage his finances and the distribution of funds directly to Elijah would not be in his best interests.”
Now, following an initial court hearing, a judge has blocked Cher’s temporary order due to her legal team failing to provide Elijah‘s legal team with case filings. Her representatives chose to go through a court-appointed lawyer, instead of the one Elijah selected, and that attorney has since been relieved.
For his part, Elijah claims he has been “clean and sober” for three months. He also added:
“Like many people, I have struggled with addiction and spent money in ways that have not always been the most responsible. However, I am now under the care of Dr. Howard Samuels and am attending AA meetings. I have dismissed my petition for dissolution of marriage and I am reconciling with my wife so that we can work on our relationship now that I have found a path to sobriety.
Recently, I have been staying with my wife and before that I was in Mexico for approximately two months. My mother was — at the time that the petition was filed — aware that I was in Mexico prior to December 15, 2023.”
A follow-up hearing for the temporary conservatorship will take place on January 29. Another hearing for a permanent conservatorship is also scheduled for March. Elijah‘s legal team tried to delay that hearing, but were denied.
It was also noted that Cher‘s legal team have opposed the possibility of Elijah‘s wife, Marie Angela King, taking on the conservator role. They claim the couple’s “tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”
