Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Dean Wallace & The Black Flames.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band?
DEAN WALLACE & THE BLACK FLAMES: Dean Wallace & The Black Flames is a Heavy Rock band from France.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
DEAN WALLACE & THE BLACK FLAMES: My main influence is Metallica. I’ve been a diehard fan of this band for a big part of my life. I love the metal of the late 80’s,early 90’s (Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” “…And Justice For All,” “Black Album”; Megadeth’s “Rust in Peace,” “Countdown to Extinction,” “Youthanasia”; Pantera’s “Cowboys from Hell,” “Vulgar Display of Power,” “Far Beyond Driven”…). It’s the base of what I enjoy playing and listening to. Besides metal, my influences are Pink Floyd, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Jackson, Foo Fighters
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
DEAN WALLACE & THE BLACK FLAMES: My latest release is “New World Disorder.” It’s worth checking out because it gives an idea of where the band is going. The first album (“Metal Famil”y) was very inspired by the decade I mentioned above, but the new EP will incorporate my other influences to create a more versatile style. We can say this new song is one of the most aggressive and straightforward I’ve ever written.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
DEAN WALLACE & THE BLACK FLAMES: They can expect my songs to be played as closely as possible from the album version, with the tightness of metal, and the energy of punk. I try to interact with the crowd as much as I can. Being funny is also one of my assets. We just play live, with no click or backing track.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
DEAN WALLACE & THE BLACK FLAMES: I don’t have any goal concerning views or streams, I just want to be on the road all the time. In five years, I hope we’ll be doing the same stuff we do today, at a bigger level. I’d like to tour Europe and North America, supporting a huge band for example. And I’d like to work with talented and creative producers for my next album.
