Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Good Time Locomotive

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Good Time Locomotive.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

GOOD TIME LOCOMOTIVE: It got started by me (James-drummer) dragging an old guitarist friend out of musical retirement (George) after him seeing playing some of his old riffs on Facebook. Then we just got a bit carried away really!

By the time lockdown hit we knew that we either had to find an absolutely original and awesome singer to work with on vocals to see if the music we had written could ever reach the extremely high standards we have songwriting wise.

Surprisingly that was the easy part when we found Hugo Leite. The hard bit was getting the other members involved!

We did finally form a 5 piece band at the end of 2022 which soon imploded, resulting in everyone leaving except for myself and Hugo. However, this has turned into a blessing in disguise as we have moved forward with releasing the material at a frantic pace and life as a two piece band is great!

We have almost completed a live line up ready to play shows and our online presence is growing at a decent pace.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

GOOD TIME LOCOMOTIVE: Always a tricky question as we have such a wide and eclectic mix between us that I sometimes wonder how we managed to stick together the songs we have!

Hugo is really into Indie and bedroom pop and I am from the old school 80’s pop, heavy rock world. The band is sort of an emotional Duran Duran/simple minds meets Don Broco and the 1975 I guess.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

GOOD TIME LOCOMOTIVE: It is called ‘The Dark Within’ and it is our heaviest track of them all. Which, if the name of your publication is anything to go by means it will most definitely be the one I think your readers will dig the most!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

GOOD TIME LOCOMOTIVE: Full on energy transfer! Very much hoping to be back out on the live circuit soon as we miss the stage big time! It aint all about Insta!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

GOOD TIME LOCOMOTIVE: With a big fat Cuban in a jacuzzi with some other random celebs talking about how hard it is to have so many adoring fans! Lol

Joking aside, just earning a living from making this music would be more than enough!
