Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Blast Bomb.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
BLAST BOMB: Blast Bomb is a band that is 20 + years in the making. Torben, Tobi, Klaus and our old bassist had been friends since school, after years of talking shit about joining a band together they finally did it! But they needed a frontman and thats where I [Johnny] come in! New to Germany and looking for some Rock’N’ Roll.
In the beginning the band wanted to be a Stoner Rock band but once we started writing it became very clear that was not going to happen!
Over the last six years we have been working on our sound, trying to not be the standard Punk Rock band and to offer a few other elements of our influences. In the beginning it was a little confusing but now I would say we have the right recipe and since our new bassist Robin joined, the jigsaw came together and with our new project called ‘Explosive Sounds’ you can really hear the results.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
BLAST BOMB: We are influenced by so many different styles of music but I would say Turbonegro, Gluecifer have a big influence on our sound not to mention the fantastic Smoke Blow from just down the road in Kiel.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
BLAST BOMB: Our new project is called ‘Explosive Sounds,’ 5 singles split over the coming months and then released all together at the end on a nice collectors CD. They are without doubt the best songs we have ever written. A perfect mix of earworms and killer riffs.
Our current single ’21:47′ its written about 3 hours after the birth of my son. I was tired and emotional and I just jotted down my thoughts and to be honest the lyrics recorded were the same with very limited edits.
Whats cool about this is while we were recording, my son came to visit me. I thought I would show him the vocal booth and let him hear his voice through headphones and not to my knowledge Timo our producer had hit record! So fast forward to hearing the first mix and there is my boy… laughing at the end of the song! It was quite emotional.
Then to top it off the song was sent to Abbey Road Studios in London to get mastred, so not only has my voice, but my sons voice been ran through the desk and speakers of the most famous studio in the world! Now thats something I wont forget in a hurry
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
BLAST BOMB: Expect fast in your face Rock’n’Roll, shout along Chouruses and face melting solos! We want anyone watching us to just have a good time, you may not like our mucic but you will without question enjoy the show!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
BLAST BOMB: Still bringing the BOOM I hope! The past few years have been tough for any band in our level but we are re-energized and really excited to see what adventures come our way!
