Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with The Loners.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
THE LONERS: The Loners originally started as a two-piece acoustic/bass indie/pop band. This consisted of Nath and Ross. Ross decided to call it a day after around 2 years, just as our current drummer, James joined the band. James had recently met Nath in the pub, while watching a football game. Through a mutual friend, they spoke about their love for playing live and being in a band.
Nath and Mark were at University together and always touched on the idea of playing in a band, but with life taking over and following different directions, it wasn’t until 12 years later that Mark decided to join the new “The Loners” lineup.
This was the start of the new “sound” The Loners were about to develop. What once was an indie band, has now developed into an alternative rock band.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
THE LONERS: All the rock gods to be honest. Zeppelin, Nirvana, Metallica, AC/DC, Foo Fighters. Mark currently loves The Hives at the moment and Nath is listening to a lot of Kasabian. James loves “The Boss.”
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
THE LONERS: “Rock Star” is the title (although it hasn’t been released, just yet!) it’s basically as it says on the tin. The meaning behind the song is about playing in a band, having fun with your mates etc. but also about the times that aren’t so great. This is whether you are an established artist, or not. You should check it out if you like catchy, guitar driven songs. Plus it’s so much fun to play live, so hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we do!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
THE LONERS: We are loud. We are very energetic. I don’t think we play any songs where we aren’t shouting about something. But we have lots of fun and we tell dad jokes…what’s not to love about that?!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
THE LONERS: I always say that I want to take over the world. But if we could tour around the world that would be pretty cool. Sod it, we’re sticking with “world domination!”
