Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Negative Frame

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Negative Frame.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

NEGATIVE FRAME: Negative Frame formed in 2017, out of the crust of London street skate spots and hardcore fury. We mix hard groove riffs with violent breakdowns and ganged choruses. We’re a lot of fun but definitely bring the pain too. We just dropped “The Mercy Killing” EP on The Coming Strife UK / Death Farm Records EU. We just came back from our release tour with Street Soldier – 8days of chaos around the UK.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

NEGATIVE FRAME: Burn the Priest was the main driving force for this band. Comprised of Lamb of God members before they changed their name – it’s chaotic, groovy and brings the violence with their hard breakdowns. Acid Bath, Disembodied and Malevolence are some others that influence the Negative Frame sound.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

NEGATIVE FRAME: We dropped “The Mercy Killing” EP last month. We’ve produced a darker, more saturated run of tracks since our last release. It keeps the dance metal vibe whilst expanding our death metal elements.

“The Mercy Killing” EP is available on 12” Vinyl from The Coming Strife – including The Small World EP on the B-side. CDs are available from Death Farm Records EU alongside our Bandcamp which has limited tour merch in stock.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

NEGATIVE FRAME: We’re a part of the thriving UKHC scene. Fists are swung, people throw themselves off the stage and grab the mic. If you like metal and wish the local/underground scene was popping more, you should check out bands like Bloodfury, Despize, Splitknuckle, and Invoke. The community in hardcore is something I only could have dreamed about as a kid.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

NEGATIVE FRAME: We’re all about having good times and seeing the world. We’re grateful to be touring Europe hard next year, alongside our visit to Portugal and Spain this Halloween! We can’t wait to drop our debut album within the next year or 2, it will be a big deal when it happens. Thanks for having us.
