Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with The Phantom Rockets.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
THE PHANTOM ROCKETS: The band originally started as a power duo, just me (Stefano, guitars/vocals) and Mattia (Drums). We formed right before the whole pandemic thing started so we wrote the most of our songs during lockdown and the subsequent restriction period. After releasing a couple singles we realized our sound was taking a different direction. What we were writing was different and we felt we just couldn’t do it as duo. We then decided to add a bass player to the band and that’s how Albert (Bass guitar) joined the band. We now are a power trio, although we have another guitar player on live shows.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
THE PHANTOM ROCKETS: We all come from different musical backgrounds, although we have lots in common. We don’t really have one or more main influences. We all love americana rock and punk rock as well and you can find those genres mixed in our sound.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
THE PHANTOM ROCKETS: We released the first single of the upcoming EP ‘Come Undone’ on August 2nd, 2023. We put a lot of effort trying to make it sound exactly how we wanted to and we’re definitely proud of it. I can’t say why people should check it out. I think all new music deserves a chance..then of course it’s up to the listener to like it or not but I think we’re living in an era where new music really struggles to show off and I guess there are plenty of good bands that remain unheard. So, ya.. check our new single out as you should check any other band’s.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
THE PHANTOM ROCKETS: Fireworks, girls dancing on stage and a whole lot of special effects. Of course I’m just kidding.. we love playing our music live and we do our best to do it properly. So what you can expect is seeing 4 guys doing what they love to do.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
THE PHANTOM ROCKETS: Well, this is kind of a hard question ‘cause it’s really difficult for an underground band nowadays. I can’t say where I see my band but I can say where I hope to see it in 5 years.. I hope we’ll be playing a lot of shows and keep writing music. This is actually our main goal!
