Concert Review: Blink-182, Turnstile, & Destroy Boys In San Jose, CA

Last night (June 22), I attended Blink-182, Turnstile, and Destroy Boys’ show at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA and it was a fun night full of killer punk music.

The night kicked off with an exhilarating set from Destroy Boys. The short, lively performance helped set the tone for the evening and those who showed up early were not disappointed. Some highlights from their set included a cover of Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls on Parade,” “Beg For The Torture,” and “I Threw Glass at My Friend’s Eyes And Now I’m On Probation.”

As soon as Destroy Boys wrapped up, Turnstile took the stage for an electrifying performance. The group have been receiving a lot of hype in recent years and their live show only further cemented their status as one of the most exciting acts in hardcore. Between the band’s impeccable musicianship and infectious energy, they were completely on point in all aspects. If you ever have a chance to see them in concert, go! It’ll definitely be worth your time. Some highlights from their set included “T.L.C. (Turnstile Love Connection),” “Big Smile,” “Blackout,” and “Holiday.”

After Turnstile it was time for the headliners of the evening, Blink-182! The band opened with “Anthem Part Two” and from there it was a nostalgic-heavy trip the whole way through. It was especially cool to see guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge onstage with bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker again after a lengthy absence. The chemistry between DeLonge and Hoppus was at an all time high as they rocked hit after hit, while also keeping everyone smiling with their humorous stage banter. All of that combined with Barker’s legendary drumming and the group’s explosive stage production made for a night to remember. Some highlights from their set included: “The Rock Show,” “Dumpweed,” “Aliens Exist,” “What’s My Age Again?,” “First Date,” “All The Small Things,” and “Dammit.”
